The Glenn and Helen Show: Suicide is Painful

You hear a lot about suicide and depression during the holiday season. We talk with Dr. Eric Caine, head of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester and a consultant to the President’s Commission on Mental Health, about suicide and suicide prevention. Do antidepressant drugs raise the risks of suicide or lower them? What preventive steps work, and what should general medical practitioners, or concerned friends and family do? Dr. Caine offers lots of answers, and interesting discussion.

Dr Helen notwithstanding, this was more men are no good and women are victims either way, same old same old. Maybe someday "professionals" will get a clue that their devotion to PC outweighs their professionalism, and actually do something to help rather than promote the $tatus quo, such as calling for the decriminalization of fatherhood, but I'm not holding my breath waiting because that would be suicidal.

Suicide is 7 to 1 men, so it's not a problem. If it were 7 to 1 women, we would have daily marches on Washington with 24x7 media coverage, it would be priority one for every politician, every medical organization, and every political group, starting with feminists, and the taxpayers would be forced to cough up trillions of dollars to solve a problem labeled a national disgrace.

I'd sure like to see the amount spent on breast cancer per death compared to the amount spent on suicide per death. The bottom line is life just isn't anywhere near as good for men as it is for women, so suicide looks like a lot better alternative to far more men than women.
