Sanity Squad: Widening War![]() Many Democratic leaders—Pelosi and Reid and Biden, to name a few—are vocally opposed to Bush’s new plan for Iraq even before its official unveiling. Is it déjà vu all over again, a repeat of the late-1974 withdrawal of funding from Vietnam? Try to keep up as the Squad discusses going “wide” in Iraq, self-defense in the modern world, and the tyranny of utopianism.

The Sanity Squad is composed of 4 mental health professionals, Neo-neocon, Dr. Sanity, Shrinkwrapped, and Siggy. A Production of Pajamas Media, the Best of the Blogs, and POLITICSCENTRAL. ——— Comments (3)Alex Reed :sigmund, carl and alfred :Alex, see Dr Sanity's post: http://drsanity.blogspot.com/2007/01/viva-la-revolucion-d e-los-idiotas.html Great minds, and all that. Alex Reed :Ye Gods! Talk about the Vulcan Mind Meld! I had not read Dr. Santy's post before effusing the other day about one of my pet peeves: how our entire education system seems to have given up the pursuit of knowledge and turned into an indoctrination gulag. Dr. Santy writes eloquently based on hard, up-close experience of the complexity of the problem, while I have the luxury of observing it at a comfortable, though not always dispassionate, distance. These differences aside, I am in complete agreement with all she wrote in her post. Another Vulcan Mind Meld success story! Comments have been archived for this page. |

First, thank you for the lively discussion. It is such a rare pleasure to encounter such a measured, concertante discussion of ideas in these tattered days when vicious and hateful shouting matches have sadly become the norm for what passes for discourse. Hats off!
You touched, briefly, toward the end of your discussion on the question of where/how/why this sudden blossoming of slogan/hate speech, etc. passed off as discussion, and the whole dysfunctional pathology demonstrated by the Left. A few suggestions..... In this woebegone era, children and young adults are not so much educated as indoctrinated. It starts when they are little and first go off to school where the groundwork for p.c. victimhood is carefully laid. When they enter university, they are steeped in socialism/communism/more p.c. and victimhood-masochism/generous doses of Popper/multi-culti/deconstruction, etc., etc. And if they're passably bright and have learned their lessons well, they may get a shot at one of the many multi-culti finishing schools masquerading as NGO's sponsored by George Soros (If you can take a chilling experience, check out the CFR podcast on iTunes of Soros talking about his new book.), or Ted "I'm a socialist at heart." Turner. The sad result is generation after generation of brain-washed robos who, whenever they encounter an idea or point of view not on their indoctrination list, go into automatic destructo mode and start shouting like so many over-heating Daleks. Wasn't it Hitler who said something along the lines of, "Let me have the children when they're young, and they will be mine forever."? The result, in all too many cases, is people totally unable to think for themselves, just so many programed robots. Orwell, anyone?
