The Glenn and Helen Show: Michael Yon from Camp VictoryMichael Yon is back in Iraq, where he’s been for over a month now. We caught up to him via satellite phone and got his views on the surge (it will be “unlike anything we’ve seen before”), the status of Iraqi security forces (they’ve made “tremendous progress” since he was there last year, but things are “still dicey”), evidence of Iranian involvement in terror attacks in Iraq, what the Iraqi public thinks, and much more. Music is “Superluminal,” by Mobius Dick. Listen to this podcast (23:27) or download (14.1 MB) The Glenn and Helen Show: Michael Yon from Camp Victory (lofi version 4.2 MB). ——— Comments (4)david still :Franz Misch, the elder :Mike, Stay safe, and good to have you back where it counts, after (appreciated) coverage of deuce4, and men we admire. Interesting to see your coverage of men you know from the old days now in Afghanistan who are doing interesting things that sound on the far edge of reality - sanity. At the moment catching you on audio on the Glenn and Helen show and find your impressions hat and helmet above all else.
fmisch Brian Goodwin :Greetings. Sincerely, gerald wrench :Michael represents those of us who wish we could see the real events happening in Iraq. His priorities are refreshing. It will be interesting to see what happens, but like he says, we are all rooting for sucess. The tide is turning and the left is about a year behind. With the vote on the resolution today, we may see some politicians who in the future will regret their vote. This is a great piece of American History as it unfolds and Michael reports it as it happens. Kudos to all the inbeds who bring the truth. Clearly, even as we try to convince ourselves that things are improving or soon will, at the same time we have had today another massive killing via suicide bomber in a truck and the announcemt that yes indeed the 4 helicopters that went down were all taken down by insurgents.
It seems clear to many of us that the
American forces are in the midst of a major struggle between the Shia dn Sunnis, and that this struggle is not just confined to Iraq but is manifesting itself (if not in killings) on Aemrican college campuses and among the Palestinians (Fatah is secular; Hamas sunni but getting help from Shia Iran).
In my view the surge is not going to prevent what is happening and in the months to come we will have lost many our fine young people in s religious struggle that is now regional
