The Glenn and Helen Show: Mitt Romney Talks Super Tuesday
——— Comments (6)Chris Butler :Michael F :Yes, The G&H Show is worth our time. Thanks for the to-the-point questions of Mr. Romney. You two do work well together. I guess our choice is between someone with shiny, new conservative credentials and someone who has left his conservative credentials out in the rain. With some reluctance, I will vote for the "shiny new" guy on Tuesday One habit I wish Romney would pick up is the pithy one-word answer style of Fred. It seems Romney is trying to close the sale on nearly every answer he offers. The state of the race only makes me miss Fred all the more. Chris H. :February 2, 2008 Mitt Romney is a brilliant business man with a sound moral character. He is the best candidate I have ever seen run for president since Regan and I have been waiting for a long time. Considering the current scope of America’s economic problems do we really think it’s a good idea to destroy the one person that has the proven abilities to restore the economy? I have seen Mitt in action for many years and he is a proven problem solver with vision. Yes the liberal news papers in the Boston market will do anything to distort his image but us tax payers of Massachusetts know the REAL truth about Mitt. I understand that Mitt has evolved with his position on abortion. It’s truly a testament to the man’s moral character and ability to think to say he may have been wrong about a certain position. Unlike our current president’s arrogant, obstinate character Mitt has proven he is willing to listen and understand both sides of many issues. How many times have we all improved our understanding by listing to other peoples opinions? We are all a work in progress and once we close our minds to others we become part of the problem. Mitt’s ability to change and understand all sides of every issue is one of his greatest assets. If Mitt should be elected President he will inspire an American renaissance in technology and industry that has never been seen in America. I’ve never seen a more concerted effort to destroy a man’s character than what the media and the so called Republican insiders are doing to Mitt now. It’s almost as though there’s an unspoken conspiracy to destroy this man. Do the American people have a death wish? I will not let the left wing media make my decision on who is the best person to vote for. So what will be the plan after Mitt packs his bags and calls it a day who will fill the void another George Bush clone? Will we elect another obstinate president with no real vision of the problems that face our countries future? No the Republicans and the American people will never stand a chance with McCain. McCain is a proven liberal disaster with nothing on his resume but so called public service. Yes it’s true that Mitt isn’t an insider but the current status quo Washington insiders are the blame for America’s economic disaster. In the last decade or so we have had two Gulf wars and two treasury raids called national stimulus policies of $150 billon each. Do we really want more of the same misguided policies or do we want to change? I can only imagine what McCain’s approach to repairing the economy would be once he understands he can’t drop a bomb on it. Americans must understand that a strong national defense is built upon a strong national economy. Somebody has to pay for the military. How much money can we keep taking from the treasury until we are bankrupt? If we had a national energy policy we wouldn’t have to use our military to secure our oil supply. So what’s it going to be for the future more of the same misguided policies or do we make a choice for change? Yes a 100 year war sounds about right the way this country is going now. Mitt is the real deal that can change America. Fiftycal :So this week romney is "for" gun rights? Here is what he had to say on 12/16/2007 on Meet the Press. MR. RUSSERT: You're still for the Brady Bill? GOV. ROMNEY: I supported the assault weapon ban. I... MR. RUSSERT: You're for it? GOV. ROMNEY: I assigned--and I--let me, let me describe it. MR. RUSSERT: But you're still for it. GOV. ROMNEY: Let's describe what it is. I signed--I would have supported the original assault weapon ban. I signed an assault weapon ban in Massachusetts governor because it provided for a relaxation of licensing requirements for gun owners in Massachusetts, which was a big plus. And so both the pro-gun and the anti-gun lobby came together with a bill, and I signed that. And if there is determined to be, from time to time, a weapon of such lethality that it poses a grave risk to our law enforcement personnel, that's something I would consider signing. There's nothing of that nature that's being proposed today in Washington. But, but I would, I would look at weapons that pose extraordinary lethality... MR. RUSSERT: So the assault ban that expired here because Congress didn't act on it, you would support? GOV. ROMNEY: Just as the president said, he would have, he would have signed that bill if it came to his desk, and so would have I. And, and, and yet I also was pleased to have the support of the NRA when I ran for governor. I sought it, I seek it now. I'd love to have their support. I believe in the right of Americans to bear arms... I guess what romney says depends on which audience he is trying to pander to at the moment. bc :Good show.
