Sunstein and Thaler espouse a theory of “Libertarian Paternalism,” in which people have more choice than they do now, but in which ignorance and sloth are exploited to encourage them to make good choices even when they’re lazy. Isn't Libertarian Paternalism an oxymoron? Sounds like "do-gooder" light -- WE know what's good for you and we'll be happy to tell you about it. If you want to make the "wrong" choice, that's up to you. And an efficient way to use doublespeak to erode the meaning of the root word....LIBERTY.
Who decides what is "right" and which direction to "nudge" people? Aren't these people wrong a good part of the time because they let their ideology get in the way of the facts?
Aren't they the same people happy to give up someone else's rights, property and liberty?
I'm tired of being lectured about the "right" things to do and I'm not interested in being manipulated. A nudge is a very small step away from coercion. And it has absolutely nothing to do with Libertarianism.
